Votes at a glance: reappointments, RFQ, minutes and county bills approved by Wilson County commissioners

At its meeting, the Wilson County Commissioners Court approved a set of routine and administrative items by voice vote, including reappointments to an emergency services district board, authorization to solicit grant-writing qualifications, approval of minutes and personnel changes, and acceptance of county bills.

The court reappointed David Nieto and Sherry Heatherly to Emergency Services District No. 2; both took oaths of office during the meeting. Commissioner Martin made the motion to reappoint; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

The court authorized the county auditor's office to issue a formal request for qualifications (RFQ) for a grant-writing firm to assist the county with grant research and applications. Auditor Brenda Trevino said her office is overloaded managing existing grants and projects and recommended a formal RFQ process. Commissioner Aiken moved to allow the auditor's office to proceed with the RFQ; Commissioner Perdola seconded, and the motion passed.

The commissioners approved the court minutes for the Feb. 10 and Feb. 20 meetings after review by the county attorney and county judge. Payroll and personnel changes were presented by the human-resources specialist, including new hires and several promotions in the sheriff's office and precinct staff; those updates were accepted by the court.

Finally, County Auditor Brenda Trevino presented county bills totaling $1,357,852.67 for review and payment. Trevino noted approximately $705,000 of that total related to the county's emergency operations center fund payments. Commissioner King moved to accept the bills; Commissioner Martin seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
