The McLeod County Board adopted findings in order to file the engineer’s repair report for County Ditch 12A and set a public hearing for April 16 at 9:00 a.m. at the McLeod County Government Center.
The auditor/treasurer presented the findings-in-order and repair report and said an informal meeting with landowners and the engineers was held on Feb. 24. The board clarified that approving the findings and setting the hearing does not authorize construction; it directs the filing of the engineer’s report and establishes a public hearing where landowners may provide input and objections.
The auditor/treasurer indicated optional dates had been considered (April 16 or 17) and the board settled on April 16 at 9:00 a.m. Staff said landowners will be notified at least 10 days before the hearing, and commissioners noted the issue involves serious deficiencies in the ditch system that need transparent review.
Motion and vote: Commissioner Krueger moved and Commissioner Chochka seconded adopting the order and setting the hearing; the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff will publish and mail hearing notices as required and present the engineer’s report at the scheduled public hearing.
