The Planning Commission on April 24 voted to forward Text Amendment 01/2025 to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation of approval. The amendment updates the zoning ordinance to add and clarify definitions for private/educational uses (educational use, educational use — indoor, educational use — outdoor) and sets where private schools and related educational uses are permitted or allowed via special exception in several districts (RP, R‑R, R‑2, R‑5 and B‑1).
Staff presented the proposed ordinance changes and commissioners held a public hearing (no speakers). After brief questions and no public testimony the commission voted to forward the amendment to the Board with a recommendation of approval; the motion carried by voice vote.
Why it matters: The change will clarify how private schools and different types of educational uses are treated in multiple zoning districts, potentially streamlining review and permitting for those uses in the future.
