The Conservation Commission voted to approve several trail and map updates at Chestnut Hill Farm proposed by the Trustees of Reservations. Mike Francis, representing the Trustees, presented four map edits and two modest field changes: realigning the southern tip of the Oak Loop to improve topographic alignment and user circulation, establishing a new southern segment of the Overlook Trail to create a loop option and updating several trail names and waypoint labels on the map (including adding the Pitch Pine Trail). The Trustees also updated the Bobolink Trail alignment on the map to reflect the route as it crosses into the pasture adjacent to Chestnut Hill Road.
Commissioners and members of the public (including Open Space and stewardship representatives) raised wayfinding and maintenance questions. The trustees said livestock gates that had caused confusion in the past have been removed and that blazes and intersection signage will be installed or improved at key points; they agreed to add a map legend and clarify the pair of stone walls near the Bobolink Trail. The Commission asked the Trustees to include an updated map in wayfinding kiosks and to add an overlook bench at the higher viewpoint as part of the realignment.
After discussion the Commission moved to approve the trail and map changes and recorded a roll-call vote in favor; the trustees will update the published map and install directional signage and an improved bench location as presented.
