Brazosport ISD staff report teacher-incentive allotment approvals and expected payouts

Brazosport ISD human-resources officials told trustees on Wednesday the district’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) submissions have been approved and that designated teachers will receive state-funded stipends based on TEA’s designation levels.
Chief Human Resources Officer Mrs. Neighbors said the district’s TIA plan was fully approved in February and that designated teachers previously received a payout in August 2024. She said designations are measured using the district’s evaluation system (30%), classroom student growth (60%) and teacher attendance (10%). Neighbors said, “When a teacher earns TEA designation they will earn anywhere from an additional $4,000 to over $20,000,” depending on designation level and campus characteristics.
Neighbors reported the district will have 187 designated teachers in the spring cycle. She said the district has previously distributed about $1.3 million to teachers and anticipates generating roughly $1.9 million in TIA funds this year, with approximately $1.7 million going directly to designated teachers in an August 2025 payout. She explained 90% of a teacher's generated funds go directly to the teacher and 10% to the district for program administration and professional development.
Neighbors outlined which subjects and grades were included in the most recent submission — reading K–12, math (1–8), Algebra I and II, geometry, some science and biology, and included special-education and intervention teachers in those subjects. She also said the district is piloting growth measures for social studies and exploring the use of a unique learning system for life-skills teachers.
The board asked several clarifying questions about retroactivity and timeline; staff said TEA (and state verification processes) will notify districts of exact allotment amounts in late April and that district communications to teachers would follow immediately. Neighbors said campus administrators would be notified and a celebration of designated teachers is planned.
Ending: Trustees praised staff for the work required to participate in TIA and noted the program provides additional state-funded compensation to teachers; staff said final allotment amounts will be confirmed after state verification in late April.
