District launches strategic-planning World Café, reports kindergarten enrollment uptick and flags delayed federal IDEA funds

The superintendent said the district is monitoring federal entitlement grants: the state had not yet received its full allocation of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) funds for the upcoming fiscal year at the time of the district’s monthly state liaison meeting. The superintendent and district staff estimated the district’s IDEA allotment to be a little over $500,000; later discussion placed total federal entitlement estimates for the district in the range of about $725,000 when combined with related grants. The district also noted a Title II allotment of roughly $54,000 and said it had not accepted a smaller Title I allocation the prior year because those funds would have required hiring staff the district could not sustain if the grant did not recur.
