Planning subcommittee advances draft subdivision ordinance; commission to review river-corridor administration next meeting

Norman Cohen, Planning Commission member, and Bill (surname not specified) reported the subcommittee met on Jan. 8 and completed most of Section 4 except subsection 4.01. The subcommittee plans to meet next on Feb. 5 at 8 a.m. to finish Section 4 and then move on to Section 2; commissioners said they will compare language with Mount Holly's subdivision regulations as an example because Mount Holly has subdivision regulations but no zoning.
Commissioners discussed whether to ask the Vermont League of Cities and Towns or the town attorney to prepare recommended language for remaining procedural sections. Kevin (last name not specified) previously provided comments and the commission discussed whether to have the town attorney or the League draft final language; the consensus was to gather examples from other towns more recently updated (within five to ten years) and then decide whether to send sections back to counsel for drafting.
On the river-corridor ordinance, commissioners left off at Section 7 (administration). The commission agreed to review Section 7 and the definitions at the next meeting; staff noted that Section 7 addresses the administrative officer, development review board/board of adjustment, public notice and enforcement language.
No regulatory changes were adopted at this meeting; the subcommittee will continue redrafting and will return recommended language for formal review at a future meeting.
