Williamsport City Council on March 27 was informed that the bid opening for the Bowman Field netting project produced no bids. City staff told council the compressed timeline likely deterred bidders; staff plans to rebid the permanent netting project in the fall with a less pressured schedule.
To meet Major League Baseball safety requirements for the upcoming season, city staff and contractors will install temporary netting as an interim measure. Staff said they will rebid the permanent netting in roughly a month and aim for a fall installation of the permanent system.
Council took no formal award action because no bids were received.
