KYTC to brief Scott County on secondary‑road options including Newtown Pike section; flexible funds could help match

Scott County officials said the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will present secondary‑road and flexible‑funding options to the Fiscal Court at an April 24 meeting. County staff previewed proposed projects and estimated costs so members could prepare for the presentation.

County staff said KYTC recommended a segment of Newtown Pike approximately 3.5 miles long with an estimated cost of $466,473 for improvements leading toward Lexington; staff said details and coordinates will be provided at the April 24 meeting. Officials also said the county has discussed using flexible funds in FY 2026 as the county’s match for Lyle Road improvements around the roundabout associated with the Legacy Trail project; staff supplied a preliminary match estimate of about $152,903.

County staff said a KYTC representative already met with local staff and that the April 24 session (6:00 p.m.) will include presentation of options and funding mechanics. The court asked for any materials in advance and staff said they would circulate updated sheets before the meeting.

Members asked clarifying questions about whether the Newtown Pike segment included the U.S. 460 intersection; staff said the recommended segment does not include the roundabout planned at the 460 intersection and that they would provide more precise mapping at the KYTC briefing.

The court scheduled the KYTC presentation for the regular meeting on April 24 and asked staff to circulate the KYTC materials in advance.
