Portage County commissioners approve contracts, bids, donations and budget transfers

PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio — The Portage County Board of Commissioners on March 20 approved multiple agreements, accepted donations and authorized budget transfers as part of a largely consent-driven business session.

The board unanimously approved contract amendments and service agreements that cover transportation and public-works services; accepted low bids for storm sewer pipe, bridge materials and road liquids for the county engineer; and approved service agreements for correctional, maintenance and construction inspection services, among other items.

The commissioners also approved three cash-donation acceptances to support county programs: donations for Jobs and Family Services’ Child Protective Services “Presence for Kids” campaign, employee fundraising for a JFS committee, and a privately funded Wilde scholarship program. The board authorized several interfund transfers to move child-support and levy resources to the public-assistance fund and approved routine financial steps including processing bills, ACH payments and budget amendments.

Key approved items included an amendment with Access Point Community Health Centers for client transportation, an agreement with the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority, a cooperative agreement with the Portage County Auditor’s Geographic Information Services for the Stormwater District, a rental agreement for airport terminal office space with AVIT Flight Academy LLC, and a construction-inspection agreement for project RVD-017-080 (Chen Regional Sewer Improvements).

Contracts for services at the Portage County Justice Center and Jail were approved, including agreements with Coleman Professional Services for psychiatric/psychological services and a preventative maintenance agreement with American Corrections Maintenance Inc. and Thick Man Construction LLC for door-related services. The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Portage County Building Department and Teamsters Local Union 436.

Financial and administrative acknowledgements on the consent calendar included acceptance of the county auditor’s certificate of resources, the Portage County Sheriff’s monthly record, the 4-H county investment reconciliation, and the dog warden’s disposition and intake report. The board also appointed Tammy Lawrence to the Tax Incentive Review Council for the city of Ravenna.
