Spec Collective co-founder Jennifer Thornquist told the board the event will run Feb. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Feb. 15 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., will take place inside the venue's downstairs workroom and will offer wine at the start of the show and at intermission. "We are bringing an event for those two days, which is a circus show, variety style show... and we'd like to offer wine at the beginning and at the intermission," Thornquist said. The group has reserved 80 chairs for each performance and plans a roughly 90-minute program.
The board asked for basic details about location and operations. Thornquist said the performances will be contained in the workroom that is entered through the side entrance; the room has large roll-up garage doors and will host the audience and performers. Co-founder Mikael Walton said the collective intends to feature mostly local performers and to rotate regional artists for future shows. "I imagine that we'll be rotating through local performers and then bringing in regional performers to create networking opportunities for artists," Walton said.
After questions were answered, a board member identified as Annie made the motion to approve a short-term liquor license for Spec Collective as described in agenda item 3. The motion was seconded by board member Natasha. The board recorded affirmative votes from Natasha, a board member identified only as Jennifer, and Amy; the motion was adopted. The board chair concluded, "Wonderful. Thank you so much. You are all set." Thornquist and Walton thanked the board and invited members to attend the performance.
The license covers two specific performances and is limited to wine and malt service at the stated times and location; no additional restrictions, conditions, or referenced statutes were provided in the meeting record. The board scheduled its next meeting for one week later.
