Yukon Main Street board seeks volunteers, shifts Palette of Progress venue

Yukon Route 66 Main Street board members on March 26 asked volunteers to staff a downtown cleanup and other spring events, confirmed a change of venue for an April placemaking event and outlined planning steps for several festivals later this year.
Director Vicky Davis said the Main Street Conference is in April and that she will be out of the office until April 11. "That is required training for our program, and I will be out of the office, during that time," Davis said, and urged members with time-sensitive needs to contact her before that date.
Davis also said Main Street Day at the Capitol will be May 5; several board members agreed to represent Yukon in her absence. "Kim and Kaye and Christine and Rick Caccini, they are going to continue to do the Main Street Day at the capitol," Davis said, adding the group plans to bring the organization’s usual display.
Design point leader Danielle O'Neil said volunteers are needed for an ODOT trash-off and a downtown cleanup scheduled in April. She also announced a venue change for the Palette of Progress placemaking event: "We are doing it at the Oklahoma Check Building on North Fifth Street," Danielle O'Neil said, and invited members to a venue visit on April 3 at 4 p.m.
Promotions chair Kim Rex and staff member Hailey Doggett reviewed other upcoming events. Doggett said a recent logistics meeting with city and police representatives left some questions about the annual cruise event; the group has not made a final decision and is "back to the drawing board" on timing and logistics. Kim Rex said vendor and artist outreach for Crave (Crave the Arts) will begin in April and that early applications for the Czech Christmas market are open now.
Board members were also reminded that Yukon Main Street will need volunteers to staff the organization’s booth during spring outreach and that a volunteer sign-up link for the downtown cleanup would be posted by the end of the day. Stephen Kerr and others offered to help with grilling and setup for cleanup activities.
The short meeting closed with the board thanking members who will attend the Capitol event and a call for more volunteers for the season’s events.
