The extension moves the board’s decision deadline to June 23; board members said applicants can return earlier if materials are ready.
The extension was presented as a courtesy to the applicant while the planning board awaits the traffic analysis. A resident who spoke during the discussion said she had watched changes in nearby wetlands and described growing water on adjacent parcels: "I've watched the change of the wetlands ... it's all water," the resident said during public comment. Board members acknowledged residents' concerns and said the board will set dates for future hearings so the public can attend.
Planning board member Brandon moved to continue the public hearing until the board’s meeting on May 8; the motion was seconded and approved. Board members said the applicant told the board the traffic study would be ready in about five weeks, and the May 8 continuation is intended to ensure the study and any revised site drawings are available for public review.
The parcel involved is shown on the town tax map as 220 Box 5 and lies in the business district. Board members noted the 65‑day statutory review period protects applicants from indefinite delay but can be extended if the applicant agrees.
Next steps: the applicant is expected to submit a traffic study and any revised plans; the planning board will schedule the continued public hearing for May 8 and may reconvene again before the June 23 decision deadline if materials arrive sooner.
