Struthers mayor details spring events, hydrant flushing and local registrations

Light City Church will provide face painting and hot dogs, and, in cooperation with God’s Warehouse, will distribute 100 grocery bags to the first 100 people beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Euclid parking lot.
Mayor Miller also reported a Maple Crest egg hunt will follow on April 12 beginning at 1 p.m., with the hunt starting promptly at 1:30 p.m., refreshments and pictures with the Easter bunny; the mayor said the event will take place rain or shine. He noted the city may move the hunt inside the field house depending on conditions.
The mayor announced the Rescue Mission in the Mahoning Valley has planned a dress-down day event with specific dates for wearing Pirates and Guardians gear to support the mission, and reminded residents that Steel Valley Athletics registration for season 2 is online and free. He also mentioned a St. Nick school fish fry and other routine community reminders.
On utilities, Mayor Miller said AQUA has started spring hydrant flushing and cautioned residents that water discoloration or a temporary drop in pressure may occur while crews are flushing. He said there should be no interruption of service and advised residents to avoid doing laundry during flushing if possible and to run cold taps until the water clears.
