The Spring Hill City Council voted March 27 to accept portions of a donation of parkland from Wizzwell Farms and adopted Resolution 2025‑R‑07 to finalize the quick‑claim deed for two specified tracts.
Patrick Burton, community development director, described the donation and the parcel layout shown in the meeting packet, saying the city would receive two currently highlighted parcels with additional donation acreage to follow as the developer's excise tax obligations are resolved. Burton said the land in total will be about 44 acres when remaining pieces are deeded, and council discussion noted the donated sections will link existing parkland and provide opportunities for trails and connectivity to streets such as Webster, Woodland and Ames.
Burton said earlier plans for some of the land were altered after developer engineers determined access to certain portions would have required crossing a floodplain or the railroad; the donation offsets excise tax obligations under the developer's agreement and will allow the city to plan a trail system and future park improvements. Council members supported accepting the donation and requested staff follow up on granting language and trail planning. The motion to approve the quick‑claim deed and adopt Resolution 2025‑R‑07 carried 5‑0.
