Camarillo council honors longtime volunteer James Walker

The Camarillo City Council on March 26 asked the meeting be adjourned in memory of James Walker, a longtime community volunteer who died March 1.
Vice Mayor Tennyson provided the remembrance, saying Walker was a decorated Navy master chief fire control technician who later volunteered with the Camarillo citizen patrol beginning in 1997 and served roughly 10 years. Vice Mayor Tennyson said Walker logged about 6,500 volunteer hours, was recognized as Citizen Patrol Volunteer of the Year in February 2005 and assisted police by providing a mobile command post for community events and incidents.
Vice Mayor Tennyson said Walker’s funeral service was scheduled for March 29 at Conejo Mountain Memorial. Council members praised Walker’s service and dedication during the remarks.
No formal action beyond the remembrance was recorded.
