House adopts several concurrent resolutions recognizing visibility, arts, veterans and workforce awareness

Dover, March 26 — The Delaware House adopted a set of concurrent resolutions recognizing observances and causes including International Transgender Day of Visibility, March for the Arts, Health Care Workplace Violence Prevention Awareness Month, the role of school‑based mental health professionals, and National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

Representative Morrison introduced House Concurrent Resolution 22, which designates March 31 as International Transgender Day of Visibility in Delaware and included remarks and testimony from Vienna Cavazos, an LGBTQIA+ youth activist. Cavazos described leaving Texas due to anti‑trans legislation and urged lawmakers to support policies that allow transgender people to live safely.

“International Transgender Day of Visibility is a day to celebrate the lives of transgender people while acknowledging that due to discrimination, not every trans person can or wants to be visible,” Vienna Cavazos said on the House floor.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 37 designated March 2025 as March for the Arts. Neil Kerschling, executive director of the Delaware Arts Alliance, spoke briefly and introduced Poetry Out Loud winner Olivia Stevens, who recited a poem on the House floor. The resolution passed by voice vote.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 38 designated April 2025 as Health Care Workplace Violence Prevention and Awareness Month. Representative Cam Smith (Camilla Smith on the transcript) introduced the resolution and recognized ChristianaCare staff present in the chamber; the resolution notes concerns about verbal and physical abuse of health‑care workers.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 40 recognized the role of school‑based mental health professionals, including counselors, psychologists and social workers, and affirmed legislative support for recruitment and retention of these staff. Representative Snyder Hall presented the resolution and acknowledged a delegation of school‑based mental health professionals in the gallery.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 35 recognized March 29, 2025, as National Vietnam War Veterans Day in Delaware. Representative Carson introduced veterans present in the chamber and the resolution passed by voice vote.
