The Streator City Council voted to authorize a contract with McQueen Equipment of St. Paul, Minnesota, to purchase a new fire pumper for the Streator Fire Department under Resolution 2025-09.
Council approval followed a presentation from a city staff member who said the new apparatus will replace Engine 1, a 1989 Pierce model. The staff member said delivery will take at least 48 months, meaning the replaced apparatus would be about 40 years old when the new unit arrives.
The staff member said the city will try to sell the existing engine once the new pumper is delivered and noted online listings show similar apparatus selling for roughly $10,000. The staff member recommended signing the contract with McQueen to secure the quoted delivery timeline and pricing.
The clerk called the roll and the motion carried with the following votes: Connor — Aye; Gary — Aye; McMullen — Aye; Reid — Aye; Mayor Bede — Aye.
The council action authorizes the city to execute the purchase contract. The staff member said the city will return to council with next steps for disposition of the old engine when the new pumper arrives.
