Conservatory students preview Addams Family musical at Springfield Public Schools meeting

Principal Ryan Kelly introduced three middle‑school students from the Conservatory of the Arts who previewed upcoming performances of The Addams Family musical and described their roles and choir participation.

The presentations highlighted student engagement in the Conservatory’s performing arts program and listed performance dates and times for the community.

Principal Ryan Kelly told the meeting that the Conservatory of the Arts had three middle‑school cast members in the production and invited the students to speak. Roxanna Lopez, an eighth‑grade ensemble member, said the cast has been “working hard on our lines, making props, practicing dances, and songs” and encouraged the public to attend. Robert Hines, a seventh grader, said he is “also a member of the Conservatory Concert Choir” and described the experience of working with older students in the cast. Caden (Candace) Sharp, an eighth grader who plays Pugsley Addams, sang a short excerpt from the show during her remarks.

The students named their teachers and directors. Roxanna identified Mr. Coors as the choir director associated with the concert choir; Hines named Mr. Carreras in the same context. Sharp said the drama directors are Miss McDonough and Miss Norman.

The Conservatory’s scheduled performances of The Addams Family are April 5 at 7:00 p.m., April 6 at 2:00 p.m., April 12 at 7:00 p.m., and April 13 at 2:00 p.m., all at the Conservatory venue, according to the students’ remarks. Principal Kelly also noted the chorus’ recent acapella contest in Hartford, Connecticut, which he praised during introductions.

The presentations were delivered during the middle‑school student representative segment of the meeting and were followed by brief applause and thanks from meeting moderators.
