The Personnel Policy Committee of the Janesville School District voted Aug. 4 to adopt the meeting agenda and to forward revisions of the student/parent and employee handbooks to the full school board for consideration.
The committee first approved the Aug. 4 agenda by voice vote after a motion and a second, with members responding “Aye.” The committee then considered a presentation and a motion to move proposed student/parent handbook updates to the full board; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no questions recorded.
Committee members next moved to advance employee handbook updates to the full board. During discussion the committee clarified a question about the handbook’s workers’ compensation language. According to staff, in consultation with Superintendent Holtzman, the committee removed illustrative examples and left the workers’ compensation statement “as it was last year.” Staff identified the location of the relevant text as page 34 of the staff handbook. After that clarification, the committee approved forwarding the employee handbook updates to the full board by voice vote.
The committee chair and staff noted that the employee handbook updates will be formally considered at the full board meeting following the committee meeting to allow committee members additional time to review details before a board-level decision.
