District updates ESSER-funded projects and referendum capital work, reports Franklin HVAC and window progress

Facilities staff reported extensive mechanical work at Franklin (installation of supply and return piping and electrical systems feeding new HVAC equipment) and said window replacement and glazing hardware are on site, with a projected completion date of Sept. 30. The committee heard that window work “looks very nice” from the road and that equipment installation in tunnels will continue into March.
Architectural work on greenhouse projects at both high schools is moving into design. Staff said they will meet with both school teams and the architectural firm to finalize drawings and prepare a request for proposals (RFP). A new agriculture teacher from Craig High School who previously attended Parker High School was cited as providing helpful user input to the design process.
Safe pathways work was described as “not quite done” but largely complete; staff said remaining items are minor maintenance. The committee also heard a concrete 6‑foot sidewalk installed over the summer at Van Buren Elementary that connects the school playground to Menard Street; Principal Stephanie Edwards reported to staff that the change “has helped out tremendously” during drop‑off.
Ending: Staff said they will schedule walkthroughs of safe pathways and continue monthly updates to the committee as construction and commissioning proceed.
