Appleton board hears plan for Columbus-to-Edison transition; summer programming to move to Edison

The Appleton Area School District on Monday outlined an active transition plan to move students from Columbus Elementary into Edison following the board’s January boundary decision, with staff saying they will publish detailed steps after one more transition-team meeting.
Sherry Gabby, director of school and student services, told the board a 26-member transition team convened last week and will provide input on — then oversight of — the district’s transition plan. “The team is facilitated by Columbus Principal Joe Cannon, Edison Principal Katie Schmelzer, and myself,” Gabby said.
