The Waunakee Community School District board approved facility committee recommendations to move forward on several minor capital and repair projects for the upcoming summer and approved a booster-club proposal to modify the baseball concession stand, contingent on required paperwork.
Facility committee members reported that building principals and administrators met with facilities staff to compile a list of potential summer projects, including several safety requests. The committee voted 3–0 to advance a set of repair and materials requests to the full board.
Board members discussed the baseball booster club's plan to cut an additional window in the concession building and to perform additional work at no cost to the district. The facility committee attached two conditions to its recommendation: the booster club must provide proof of insurance covering tradespeople who will perform the work, and the district must confirm that the building is structurally safe to accommodate the requested change. A booster representative told the committee they were preparing the paperwork.
The board approved the projects and the concession work with the committee's conditions; in the meeting members voiced unanimous approval when asked.
Ending: Facilities staff and the booster club will supply the requested documentation and the district will complete a structural review before any work begins.
