Board approves subset of summer priority‑1 facility projects including clock/PA upgrades and cafeteria tables

The Waunakee Community School District board approved a limited subset of priority‑1 facility maintenance projects that the administration requested be moved forward because of scheduling and long lead times.
Administration told the board the district has been reviewing capital maintenance projects and prioritized work by urgency. The facility committee reviewed the full list and recommended moving a small number of projects forward now. Two projects called out by administration were wiring and upgrades to the clock, bell and public address system at Arboretum (the middle school will remain on hold pending long‑term decisions about that facility) and replacement of original cafeteria tables at Prairie, which require purchase orders now to meet lead times for delivery before next school year.
The facility committee reported a 3–0 vote to bring the subset to the full board for approval; the full board approved the motion to proceed. Administration said IT and facilities staff will coordinate to schedule work in shifts where possible to reduce disruption during the school year and to take advantage of staff availability.
The administration asked board members to submit feedback on the full priority list over the coming month; the committee expects a further review in April to consider additional projects depending on budget and scheduling.
