District explores marketing several properties for sale or lease, including McNeil, Wright and operations facility

School district staff told the Business Operations and Finance Committee they plan to market several district-owned properties and seek broker proposals for sale or lease.

Staff said board policy gives the committee authority to discuss disposition of district land. They recommended listing the McNeil and Wright properties for sale but noted the district can reject offers that do not meet board expectations. Staff recommended marketing the district operations facility on Fourth Street for lease rather than sale, to retain long-term control while generating near-term revenue. The operations property, staff said, is small (roughly 0.5–1.3 acres depending on parcel) and may need roofing and other work before a lease. Staff suggested inviting local real estate brokers (Coldwell Banker and Century 21) to submit proposals and return to the committee with recommendations by a March meeting.

Committee members asked about footprint, age and condition. Staff cited an existing condition rating and noted roofing would likely be required if the district sought a lessee. Members discussed possible interim uses for the operations site and nearby lots — including short‑term parking — but staff cautioned the lot would likely need ADA and surface improvements to serve public parking reliably.

Staff also reported receipt of a Wisconsin Department of Transportation offer for a roughly six‑acre DOT parcel on Cawley Road adjacent to I‑39; staff said the district has no immediate use for that parcel and would probably decline, though they will make inquiries with DOT and area municipalities to learn whether an acquisition offer is realistic and at what price.
