Historical commission approves annual report in concept, authorizes chair to finalize edits

The Milford Boards & Committees of Selectmen approved the committee’s annual report in concept and authorized a member identified as Dave to make further edits, the board agreed unanimously.

Member 2, Member of the Milford Boards & Committees of Selectmen, moved to "approve this as a general concept and authorize Dave to do additional edits"; Member 3 seconded the motion. The vote was recorded as unanimous.

Members discussed multiple specific edits they wanted before publication: removing or clarifying a line that referred to a ‘‘Harvest Festival’’ and “artifacts to Cushing’s,” removing an editorial comparison between separate cell-tower projects, spelling out road names (for example writing out “Old Wilton Road” instead of an abbreviated form), and using “circa” instead of “CA” when noting historic dates. One participant asked that the drafting chair take out an editorial comment that compared two different cell-tower plans; another suggested the chair has broad discretion but would accept edits from members before submission.

The board also noted related items of interest: a community master-plan forum scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5 (with a follow-up session March 25 in the same meeting room), review activity on a registration application for a property referenced as the “Mile Away,” and a demolition documentation project for a property associated with Marvin Hendricks. Committee members said draft reports and photographs are being stored to the board’s cloud storage and that they will circulate minor corrections to the draft report before submission.

The action at the meeting authorized a final submission after modest edits; the board did not alter the report’s substance or add new policy positions at this session.
