The 187th District Court accepted a plea from Arturo Villanueva, deferred adjudication for three years and scheduled a restitution hearing for May 5 to determine any amount owed to the complainant.
In open court Judge Stephanie Boyd reviewed discovery and a TAP evaluation with counsel and accepted the plea bargain recommending deferred adjudication. The court ordered conditions including 100 hours of community-service restitution, regular reporting by Zoom or in person, random UAs, monthly field visits, and parenting classes. Probation was directed to provide documentation of any proposed restitution in time for the May 5 hearing.
Defense counsel noted the TAP evaluation and the defendant's health and employment status. The court ordered that proof of employment or SSI be provided within 30 days and limited employment with minors or as a home-health care provider while on probation.
The court emphasized the importance of communication with probation and instructed the defendant to return to court if probationary needs were not met. The restitution hearing will determine any monetary obligation owed to the complainant, Christian Ramirez.
