District staff briefed the board on the school nutrition administrative review conducted under federal program monitoring rules. The review, which is performed approximately every five years, examined policy implementation, meal service, menu patterns and other compliance areas under federal child nutrition programs.
Staff said the reviewers were largely complimentary about the district's program and singled out staff members for praise. The review produced some corrective actions that required follow-up; district staff said they had until Jan. 10 (the deadline noted in the review) to respond and that some corrective actions were addressed while reviewers were still on site.
District staff thanked Tish, Kelly and Andrea from the school nutrition team for preparing materials and supporting the review. The three sites visited and reviewed were identified in staff materials; staff said the review covered both implementation and federal regulatory requirements and that the review included on-site observation and a closing meeting where preliminary feedback was discussed.
No formal board action was required; staff said they would continue to implement any corrective actions and provide updates as required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and federal program rules.
