Jackie Jacob, family and youth program manager at GTCC, told the board the program was awarded a second five-year grant and currently serves 84 Western elementary students in before- and after-school care. Jacob said the free program provides academic enrichment outside the school day, including math, science, literacy, team building and social-emotional learning; she introduced the program's new 21st Century grant coordinator, Mariah Bellinger, who had been on the job about three weeks at the time of the meeting.
The board viewed a short program video and heard brief student remarks praising the activities and social opportunities the program provides. Board members thanked GTCC staff and acknowledged the value of community partners in operating grant-funded enrichment programs.
GTCC asked the board to note the program's continued partnership role and the importance of sustained funding for out-of-school enrichment; no formal board action was required or taken during the presentation.
