Interim Mayor Luke Merrill, George Heeman and Steve Lundeen were sworn into office at the Isanti City Council meeting on Monday, Jan. 6.

The oath—administered individually by the presiding official—asked each to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Minnesota and to “discharge faithfully the duties” of their offices. After the oath the interim mayor presided over the remainder of the meeting.

The council noted that one council seat remains vacant; applications were open through the next day at 4:30 p.m. and may be submitted online or in person at City Hall. The council then moved into routine business on the agenda.
