Porter County planning commission elects officers and names committee representatives

At a meeting of the Porter County Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, members elected Rick Byrne president and Bob Guilliano vice president, and filled board roles including BZA hearing officer and alternate and a seat on the development review committee.

Those nominations were made from the floor and approved by voice vote. Rick Burns identified himself as having made at least one of the motions during the roll call and nominations. Members responded to each motion with “aye” and no members recorded opposition during the meeting.

The nominations and confirmations included: the presidency (Rick Byrne), vice presidency (Bob Guilliano), appointment of Bob Guilliano as Board of Zoning Appeals hearing officer, appointment of Pam Fish as BZA hearing officer alternate, and appointment of a member named Kevin to the development review committee. In each instance the commission took a motion, received a second and approved the motion by voice vote; the transcript records unanimous voice approval and does not report a roll-call tally.

Several members briefly discussed committee availability before the votes. A member noted there would be five to eight steering or committee meetings a year and that some work would be handled by email; another member said they expected to be unavailable for a multiweek period because of scheduled surgery and named a potential backup for committee service.

The commission did not record or report dollar figures, term lengths, or formal written motions beyond the oral nominations during the session.

Following the appointments the chair moved to the next agenda items.
