The Isanti City Council approved a resolution amending the 2025 budget to pay for chipping a large brush and log pile at the city shop. The motion, made by Councilmember Lundin and seconded by Councilmember Holmgren, passed 4-0.
City staff said they solicited four quotes for the work and that the lowest bid came from JR Enterprises (local). Staff explained the pile contains brush and logs from prior trimming and that the city has separated logs and brush in the past. Staff estimated there are “probably all of 15, 20 logs” some of which could be about 15 feet long; the speaker said they were not certain about the full contents of the pile.
Staff noted differences in vendor quotes: one vendor, Rivard, appeared to quote $16,500 to include log chipping; another quoted a per-load stump removal of $300. Councilmembers discussed confirming with the selected vendor that logs would be chipped and finding a place to store or dispose of stumps. Councilmember Lundin said the city would submit documentation to the county for possible disaster-fund reimbursement but cautioned the reimbursement timing was uncertain and may not arrive in 2025.
The council approved the budget amendment and the vendor selection; staff will confirm scope (including log chipping) with the contractor and seek available county reimbursement.
