The Isanti City Council approved an ordinance to leave Chapter 81 stormwater rates unchanged through 2029. The motion, made by Councilmember Lundin and seconded by Councilmember Holmgren, passed 4-0.
City staff told the council the city’s last stormwater rate study was completed in 2021 and that subsequent actions reduced rates by 20% in 2022, 15% in 2023 and 10% in 2024. Staff said current revenues and cost forecasts are “very, very close” to the 2021 projections and recommended maintaining existing rates until the next scheduled review in 2029.
Councilmember Lundin moved approval. Councilmember Holmgren seconded. After brief discussion and a confirmation from staff that they would bring any material deviations to the council’s attention before 2029, the council voted to adopt the ordinance.
The council’s approval keeps the rates at their current levels; staff will return in 2029 for the next formal rate review. Mayor Luke Merle was reported absent and on vacation.
