Contractor reports jail construction tracking to May schedule; groundbreaking set for tomorrow

Jeff Curtis, a contractor working on the county's new jail project, told the board the project is "trending and tracking for the May per schedule" and that footing and foundation work is progressing. Snyder & Associates are on-site this week for construction staking, and Sticker Concrete is preparing to begin footings and foundations. Curtis said final precast shop drawings are being completed and that penetrations larger than 12 inches require special blackouts in the precast.
Curtis said tariff-related cost impacts have been limited so far; he mentioned an estimated $5,000 increase on some HVAC equipment captured in a deductive change order but said most manufacturers had material on hand. The project team plans to procure a generator through the state bridal buyers group in about two weeks as part of contingency purchases.
Curtis and the board confirmed a ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the new jail site, and county leaders said they planned to attend. The contractor asked if there were questions; the board had none beyond schedule and procurement clarifications.
