"If I'm not selected, of course, I would still intend to be the interim until such time as whoever's selected with the county attorney can get on the ground and start giving a job," he said.

The chair noted interviews were scheduled beginning at 4:45 p.m., with one candidate joining by Zoom and another who might be delayed by jury duty. A board member moved to approve the 30-day agreement; the motion carried by voice vote and the chair said he would sign the agreement.
