Student representative Serenity Martinez honored for service to school committee

The Springfield School Committee recognized Serenity Martinez, an 11th grader at Springfield Virtual School, for her service as student representative at the March 27 meeting.
Members, district staff and administrators praised Martinez for her attendance, preparation and perspective. Vice Chair Monroe Naylor and several committee members thanked her for bringing student voice to meetings. Principal Allison Lynch, the student adviser Jeff Hamilton and family members were present for a small presentation and a bouquet was given.
Martinez thanked the committee and said serving as student representative had been meaningful: “This experience has shaped me as a person, and I will always hold a little piece of all of you as I continue on in life.”
