The Jackson County Commission on March 20 approved a series of budget amendments to align the county ledger with purchases and projects already approved at earlier meetings.
County Administrator Matthew Hamrick told commissioners the amendments were intended “to catch the budget up” to recent expenditures and approvals. The commission approved amendments covering several funds: a dual-fund amendment of $16,075; $497,600 for roads and bridges; $185,800 for the jail fund (waterproofing work); and solid-waste items including $365,438 for a side-arm garbage truck and $25,000 for a solid-waste management plan.
Commissioners voted orally to approve each amendment; each motion received a second and passed when the chair called for the ayes.
The moves formalize spending the commission already had agreed to in prior meetings and update accounting to reflect equipment purchases and ongoing maintenance projects.
