At its March 27 meeting the Spalding County Board of Commissioners adopted an updated official zoning map that incorporates zoning decisions approved during 2024 and approved a separate resolution to finalize leasing paperwork for fire apparatus at the county’s new Station 8.
Community development staff told the board the county periodically readopts the zoning map to reflect rezonings and other actions; staff said the current update primarily captures changes associated with the incorporation status and rezonings around Sunnyside and other approved rezonings from 2024. The board voted 5‑0 to adopt the updated map as part of routine housekeeping.
Earlier in the agenda the board heard from Chief Berg and approved a separate resolution authorizing final lease documentation for fire trucks for the new Station 8; the board carried that motion 5‑0. Chief Berg said the equipment and paperwork had been presented previously and that this final resolution was required by the leasing vendor to proceed with delivery.
Both votes were unanimous and require standard follow‑up by county staff to complete administrative steps: updated maps to be posted in the community development office and building/lease paperwork to be finalized for the vendor and finance staff.
