Surface Maintenance LLC (road repairs): The board revisited two subcontracting proposals from Surface Maintenance LLC to repair Moffett's Pond Road (2,259 feet) and Gunter Road (2,424 feet). After discussion about the new public works director completing work in-house, a motion to delay contracting and allow the new public works director time to assess and potentially do the work passed.
Hazard Mitigation (HMPG) grant application: The board approved executing the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMPG) application. Staff said the county's current mitigation plan expires July 19, 2025, and the proposed grant amount is $24,000 (federal $18,000; state $2,400; local $3,600). Staff scheduled plan-update meetings in April and May to maintain grant compliance. The board authorized the chair to sign the application.
Recreation credit-card acceptance and Lake Merriweather bank account: Commissioners approved permitting the Recreation Department to accept credit-card payments (merchant services such as Square discussed) and approved closing an existing Lake Merriweather checking account at United Bank and opening a new account to segregate recreation funds. The chair was authorized to sign required bank-letter documents.
LRA funding application (2025 supplemental): Staff requested permission to apply for Local Maintenance and Roadway Assistance (LRA) supplemental funds estimated at $1,018,009.43 for 2025; projects proposed include culverts, bridges and roads carried over from the prior application list. The board approved submitting the application and authorized the chair to sign.
Executive session and adjournment: The board recessed into executive session for litigation, personnel and real-estate matters; the board returned to open session at 7:05 p.m. and announced no action was taken in executive session. The meeting then adjourned.
