DEL RIO — The San Felipe-Del Rio CISD facilities team briefed trustees March 24 on construction and maintenance work, reporting progress on the Cody Wardlaw Innovation Project, HVAC and window installations, and presenting maintenance and work-order metrics.
Hector Ciampa said the Cody Wardlaw project has plumbing on standby pending tile installation, windows being installed on lower-level exteriors with upper levels to follow once materials arrive, and interior painting and ceiling sanding underway. HVAC air handlers for restrooms are in place and tile delivery is scheduled; contractors will begin setting ceramic tile on the floor and restroom walls.
Facilities presented a prioritized list of maintenance projects; most items are unfunded and will be considered for future capital work, except perimeter fencing for San Felipe Memorial Middle School, which is currently out for bids with openings scheduled in April. The district noted that some projects are being completed in-house and therefore listed with no external cost.
Work-order metrics (past 90 days): - Maintenance: 924 tickets created, 91% completed. - Technology: 2,584 tickets created, 91% completed (0'15 days bucket completion varied by age). - Transportation: 303 tickets created, 96% completed.
Trustees discussed whether to retain an unfunded projects slide in public reports; administrators said the list is for prioritization should future funds become available.
Why this matters: the construction updates affect when facilities will be available for students and staff and inform budgeting priorities for capital improvements. High completion rates on work orders indicate operational responsiveness.
Next steps: perimeter-fence bids to open in April; staff will continue coordinating material deliveries and contractor scheduling for windows, HVAC and tile work; citizens committee will prioritize capital items for board consideration.
