Student ambassadors describe school projects, programs and renovation impacts

Elementary, middle and high school student ambassadors spoke at the March 27 meeting about student leadership activities, nutrition sampling, arts and school renovations.
Three district student ambassadors described their experiences with student leadership, programming and school projects March 27.
Milan Chi, a fifth‑grade student at Pine Hill Elementary, said he enjoyed being a student leader and highlighted a school egg‑drop challenge: “Coming here, it’s fun,” Milan said, adding students learned about the size and resources of the district during a district service center tour.
Eighth‑grader John Teppi of Lake Middle School said student ambassadors provide feedback on teachers, student policies and behavior; he described a band visit to elementary schools and suggested mental‑health supports such as sessions with therapy dogs. “One of the things I enjoy most about being a student leader is getting to come out here and see all the wonderful people who work here,” Teppi said.
Brynn Hacker, a junior at Woodbury High School, discussed building renovations at the high schools and said student ambassadors meet monthly and use a Google form to collect peer concerns. She asked the district to consider providing an in‑school ACT preparation option: “...some online or in‑person courses can cost a lot of money and some people do not have the financial means to take those,” Hacker said.
Board members and staff praised the ambassadors’ participation; the session was informational and no board action resulted from the student remarks.
