District honors 44 teachers under Teacher Incentive Allotment program

DEL RIO, TX — San Felipe-Del Rio CISD on March 24 publicly honored 44 classroom teachers who earned state Teacher Incentive Allotment designations under Texas law.
Amy Childress of the district described the Teacher Incentive Allotment, established by the 2019 Texas Legislature (House Bill 3), and said the district was recognizing teachers at three designation levels. Childress called up teachers by name to receive certificates: 38 teachers received the recognized designation, five received the exemplary designation and one — Brenda Campos — received the master designation.
The district said the recognized designation reflects teacher appraisal and student-growth measures placing the educator among the top 33% statewide; exemplary corresponds to the top 20%; master corresponds to the top 5%. Trustees, administrators and members of the public applauded the educators as their names were read.
Why this matters: the Teacher Incentive Allotment is intended to reward outstanding educators and to support teaching in high-needs and rural districts. The district's public recognition formalizes those awards and informs the community of the teachers who received state-level designations.
