Appropriators fund art installations and temporary manager for Art Across the Prairie
Summary

Representative Murphy presented the Council on the Arts budget and an amendment that authorizes the council to accept a pending National Endowment for the Arts grant of $150,000 to hire a temporary manager for the Art Across the Prairie program.
The House amendment adds authority to accept the NEA grant and provides $380,000 in state funding for the production of four public-art installations across the state; engineering and installation costs for the projects were estimated by the council’s engineering firm at $454,142. The amendment also directs reallocation of existing grant funds to support the state troubadour and poet laureate with $15,000 each, funded from the council’s grants line.
Committee members adopted the amendment and then approved the council’s budget as amended. Representative Murphy will carry the bill to the floor.
