Counsel explained the bill requires medical professionals to report injuries and side effects from vaccines to the Bureau for Public Health and requires the commissioner to produce an annual report to the Legislature. Counsel said the bill would require medical professionals who deliver vaccines to receive educational materials from the Bureau about negative side effects and requires the commissioner to have a mechanism to report negative side effects.
Counsel stated there is no fiscal note, the Department of Health would be the impacted agency and the bill would be effective in 90 days. After counsel’s explanation there were no amendments and the committee voted to report the bill to the full Senate; the chair stated the ayes have it.
