Epic Paintball Park reports site cleanup, plans move and summer target

The owner of Epic Paintball Park told the Riverfront Redevelopment Authority the business has cleared debris and brush from leased property, removed a homeless encampment area, and plans additional site preparation ahead of a planned move.

The presenter said winter weather had forced frequent closures and slowed activity, but recent weekends show improved attendance. He described clearing roughly 1.5 acres, including about a quarter-acre that had been used as a homeless encampment, and using a forestry mower and bobcat to mulch brush and raise tree canopies.

"I had cleared out, 1 of the homeless areas. There was a lot of debris, anything from coffee cups to shoes and tires," the Epic Paintball Park presenter said, describing cleanup actions and a plan to place a dumpster to remove dumped material. He said the owner expects to smooth the field and reduce hazards so players do not twist an ankle, and hopes to relocate the old location north of I‑40 to Northwest 10th by the end of summer if work proceeds smoothly.

During the meeting trustees recorded acceptance of the presentation and later approved a management and use agreement item related to the park (the record shows a motion by Elaine Lyons seconded by Tiffany Ramirez to approve the management and use agreement). At one point the presenter and trustees discussed the business's leasing history; trustees noted the lease began in 2021.

The presenter also said he had arranged volunteer and contractor help to clear metal, wood and tires and would continue cleanup over the next three to four months. He did not provide a detailed site map, exact relocation address, or explicit timeline for final reopening beyond the end-of-summer target.

Trustees thanked the presenter, accepted the report and voted on the management and use agreement during the March 25 meeting.
