Planning and Zoning Commission elects Jordan Scott chair; David Burrow confirmed vice chair

The City of Bastrop Planning and Zoning Commission elected Jordan Scott as chair and confirmed David Burrow as vice chair during its Feb. 28, 2025, meeting.
The election for chair followed nominations from commissioners during the meeting. After a motion and second, commissioners voted by roll call: Keith Alborn, Gary Moss, Jeffrey Estes, Joshua Bingaman, Jordan Scott and David Burrow voted yes; Patrice Parsons voted no; Christopher Tot was absent. The commission then moved to confirm the vice chair position, and members approved Burrow by unanimous voice vote.
The commission members discussed the qualities they wanted in leadership before voting. Planning and Zoning Commission member Jordan Scott said he had been on the commission for several years and would “do my best to make sure that we, as a board, are a team” and that commissioners listen to residents when making decisions.
Commissioners urged new and continuing members to read meeting packets in advance and to use staff and each other as resources to prepare for meetings. A commission member also asked the new chair to help maintain order during public meetings and to make sure speakers feel heard.
No formal policy changes, budget actions or ordinances were adopted as part of the leadership elections. The commission’s election actions consist solely of the personnel confirmations recorded in the meeting minutes.
The commission moved on to other agenda items after completing the elections.
