District reports Evergreen and Olympic Middle School in fair condition under OSPI asset preservation review

Herron explained the state requirement and the district’s assessment process. “So every year we have, under the when we received funding for the construction of Evergreen and Olympic Bridal School, the state required us to join their asset preservation program... by the March every year, I have to submit, send to a report which provides a building because condition assessment,” Herron said. He told the board that because the buildings are now 22 and 23 years old, many components fall into the “fair” category under OSPI definitions for a 30‑year building span.
Why it matters: The OSPI asset preservation report inventories building components and helps prioritize capital maintenance. Herron said with additional capital funds over time, the district could keep the buildings in good repair.
What’s next: The report was accepted as an informational item; no board action was required during the meeting.
