Centerville council applies updated retirement payout policy to recent retiree

Council discussion framed the motion as correcting an “unfairness” in the prior approach by standardizing the payout. Deputy Mayor Kenley moved the change; a councilmember seconded; council members voted by voice and the mayor announced the motion carried.

Staff said it will simplify administration by replacing two payout options with one and will increase the dollar amount paid out for accrued sick leave under the new policy.
