Centerville council passes consent agenda; schedules two cannabis ordinances for March 17 public hearings

Items approved or advanced as part of the consent agenda included: scheduling a public hearing for Ordinance 08-25 to prohibit commercial cultivation, processing and dispensing of adult-use cannabis on March 17, 2025; scheduling a public hearing for Ordinance 09-25 to prohibit commercial cultivation, processing and dispensing of medical marijuana on March 17, 2025; adoption of the 2024 Montgomery County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan; approval of the Montgomery County Solid Waste Management District solid waste plan; approval of revisions to the bylaws of the First Suburbs Consortium of Dayton, Ohio Council of Governments; a resolution supporting the Ohio Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial; authorization for the city manager to apply for a Centerville Washington Township Foundation community support grant for improvements to the Stubbs Park Veterans Memorial Plaza; and memoranda of understanding with the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association covering dispatchers, police officers below the rank of sergeant, and sergeants.
The council also approved reappointments: Carol Adams (City Beautiful Commission, three-year term), Jeffrey Clank (Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council, three-year term), Mary Anne Cable (Personnel Appeals Board, three-year term) and Bryce Nickel (School Personnel Appeals Board, three-year term).
Council Member Enger moved to pass the consent agenda as read; Deputy Mayor Belinda Kenley seconded. After a voice vote the mayor announced the motion carried and the consent agenda was approved.
No items were pulled for separate consideration at the March 3 meeting. Several consent items reference external plans or grant processes (for example, the Montgomery County mitigation plan and the Centerville Washington Township Foundation grant); staff or external agencies will execute follow-up agreements or steps as required.
