Board hears proposed 2025–26 school calendar, sees draft 2026–27 plan

Dr. Jennifer Thomason, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, presented the recommended 2025–26 school calendar and a planning draft for 2026–27 at the March 19 meeting. She said the committee’s goals were to support continuous student improvement, provide professional learning time for staff and remain consistent with regional calendars to the greatest extent possible. "Our goal this evening is to review the 2025–26 recommended calendar and take a sneak peek at the 2026–27 draft calendar," Thomason said.

Key points presented for 2025–26 included a proposed first day of school on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, and a final day for students on Wednesday, June 10, 2026; spring break was identified as the first full week of April (April 6–10). The committee emphasized two banked student instructional days intended to be used if inclement weather requires makeup days and said it will maintain the regional election-day conference day for classroom teachers.
